The urge of Russian Paralympians to doping was explained

The President of the Russian Federation of Football for Disabled People, Georgy Lunacharsky, told why some Paralympians use illegal drugs. It is reported by “Sport-Express”.

The functionary explained the desire of athletes with disabilities to doping by the desire of athletes to receive material benefits, since the winners of the Paralympics are equated with Olympic champions. “They also receive 4 million rubles and a lifetime stipend – 32 thousand. Plus apartments, cars, various benefits, ”Lunacharsky said.

At the same time, he stressed that if doping is found in an athlete, the state does not deprive him of any privileges. This, according to Lunacharsky, engenders impunity.

The Russian national team was completely barred from participating in the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, and at the 2018 and 2020 Games it played in neutral status without a national flag and anthem. This is due to the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
