Tapia trusts that Iberdrola will maintain its investments in the Basque Country

The network of Basque technology parks will grow in both land and buildings in the next four years with the aim of attracting 170 more companies than adding to the current 580.

The Minister of Economic Development, Arantza Tapia, trust that Iberdrola maintains its investments in the Basque Country, after the announcement of the electric company that it will invest 7 billion euros in the United Kingdom while it has frozen those of Spain.

After the presentation of the Strategic Plan for the Network of Basque Technology Parks, held this Wednesday in Zamudio, and in statements to the media, Tapia has stated that the investment in the construction of an offshore wind farm in the United Kingdom will benefit Basque companies who work as providers.

Likewise, the Minister trusts that the electricity company will continue with its investments in the Basque Country, planned in areas such as networks smart electric or renewable, “because they are tractors of a lot of industry in the country, and we consider that it should continue making these investments.”

Tapia has admitted that economic recovery has slowed “a little bit” and has shown its concern that the gas supply this coming winter, both to the industry and to the citizens.

In this sense, he recalled that there are circumstances such as the “spectacular” increase in the price of gas and problems with logistics or the shortage of raw materials, which are “a consequence of the recovery being very fast and supply and demand they are not married yet. “

Technology parks will grow with the aim of attracting 170 more companies

According to the strategic plan presented this Wednesday in Zamudio, the network of Basque technology parks will grow in both land and buildings in the next four years with the aim of attracting 170 more companies than adding to the current 580.

Specifically, 126 million euros will be invested to build five buildings, expand three of the existing ones, and add one million square meters of available land, most of it in Álava, where the soil is already bought.
