Two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov appreciated the expanded composition of the Russian team to prepare for the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. His words are quoted by Sport24.
Fetisov called the team capable of winning the Games. He considered it important that there were no injuries during the preparation and that a good atmosphere developed in the team. “I wish them good luck and not to face problems before the tournament,” he stressed.
The Russian Ice Hockey Federation announced the roster for the Olympics earlier on January 17. In total, the team list included 36 hockey players.
The Beijing Olympics will be held from 4 to 20 February. The Russian national ice hockey team in the group stage will play with Switzerland on February 9, with Denmark on February 11 and with the Czech Republic on February 12.
Four years ago, at a tournament in Pyeongchang, the Russians won gold medals. In the final, the team defeated the German national team.
