THE Benfica beat Paços de Ferreira 2-0 this Sunday, for the 17th round of the Portuguese Championship, at Estádio da Luz. Thus, the team ended the negative sequence of two consecutive defeats to rival Porto.
Benfica’s first goal was scored by João Mário, in stoppage time. Minutes before, the Brazilian striker Denilson was sent off and harmed the visiting team.
In the 30th minute of the second half, Alejandro Grimaldo widened and secured the Benfica victory, after a pass from Seferovic.
Everton Cebolinha, ex-Grêmio, started on the Benfica side, playing open on the left. Right-back Gilberto also started playing.
With this triumph, Benfica reached 40 points, seven less than leaders Porto. Paços de Ferreira is in 11th position, with 17 points.
