Nurmagomedov spoke about the events in Kazakhstan

Russian mixed style fighter (MMA) Khabib Nurmagomedov spoke about the events in Kazakhstan. The athlete’s commentary is available on Instagram.

The 33-year-old Russian, known for his performances in the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC), admitted that he worries about what is happening in Kazakhstan. He expressed hope that peace and tranquility will be restored in the country in the near future.

The former UFC champion is the owner of the Eagle FC promotion formerly known as the Gorilla Fighting Championship. The organization held tournaments in Kazakhstan twice before rebranding and passing under the control of Nurmagomedov.

On January 2, protests began in Kazakhstan due to a sharp increase in prices for liquefied gas from 60 to 120 tenge (from 10 to 20 rubles) per liter. Later, political ones were added to the economic demands. The protesters called for the resignation of the government, the holding of new elections and the final departure from power of the ex-president of the republic, Nursultan Nazarbayev. By January 5, the protests turned into riots.
