In Machala, the calendar of walking competitions scheduled by World Athletics for the 2022 season will begin.

The World Athletics Federation (World Athletics)) raised the National Marching Championship to bronze, which will be held this Saturday in Machala.

As detailed by the Ecuadorian Athletics Federation (FEA), this level means that the marks made will be endorsed for international tournaments, since the tournament is considered part of the world circuit.

“Before it was called Challenger, now it’s World Tour,” said Julio Idrovo, linked to the FEA.

Machala’s competition will give points to ranking world of the winning athletes and this will help for the qualifications to the season’s world tournaments and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In the World Federation calendar, with this tournament the 2022 walking test season opens and the second competition recognized as bronze will be that of the USA Open, in the 35 kilometers, to be held on January 16 in Santee, California, United States; while January 22 will be the Turkey Open, in the 20 and 35 kilometers, by the Race Walking, in the Turkish population of Antalya.

Meanwhile, on January 30, the Spanish Open, in the 35 kilometer march, test to be carried out in Huelva.

In the season there will be 14 more walking tests, which will be held in China, France, Slovakia, Portugal, Poland, the Czech Republic, Australia and will be repeated in Spain. (D)
