The country exceeds 7.4 million cases of coronavirus after adding more than 56,000 new cases on the last day.
The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, and the leaders of the federal states have agreed implement new measures before the expansion of the omicron variant, as a quarantine exemption for certain people, the reduction of it and a tightening of restrictions to enter bars and restaurants.
Thus, the German authorities have agreed to an exemption from the period of self-isolation for people who have received the second or third dose of the vaccine and people who have recently recovered from the disease.
What’s more, the quarantine period will be shortened to ten days, with the option of isolating only seven if the isolated person tests negative in a diagnostic test. Currently, the quarantine time for close contacts is set at 14 days.
In reference to the tightening of restrictions for the entry into bars and restaurants, Scholz and state leaders have decided that citizens who wish to visit these facilities undergo a diagnostic test earlier, unless they have the booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The entrance to bars and restaurants is already restricted in Germany and only those who have the full vaccination schedule or have recently recovered from the disease can visit these places. This measure will continue in force.
Germany has overcome this Friday the barrier of 7.4 million cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic after notifying more than 56,000 during the last day, a day in which it has also confirmed more than 264 deaths from covid-19.
