The expert indicated Sousa’s successor. A surprising choice. “Better than Nawawka”

Less than a year ago, Paulo Sousa replaced the Polish national team on the coach’s bench. After twelve months, the roles may reverse – at least that’s what Andrzej Juskowiak says in an interview with Przegląd Sportowy.

A candidate better than Nawałka

There is an ongoing discussion about who should take over the Polish team after the compromised Paulo Sousa. The Portuguese is still listed as the selector, but he can say goodbye to this function at any moment. The 51-year-old is to negotiate a contract with the Brazilian Flamengo, which unleashed a storm on the Vistula River.

So, the transfer exchange has been going on for several days, where many names have already appeared in the context of replacing the Portuguese. Mainly Polish surnames were mentioned. Adam Nawałka was nominated very often. Andrzej Juskowiak, however, sees a different candidate.

A football expert in an interview with Przegląd Sportowy indicated Jerzy Brzęczek. – I appreciate the contribution to the team’s success, but several years have passed since then. He has not worked with any team since spring 2019. I am not saying that he is a bad candidate, but I believe that Jerzy Brzęczek is better – summed up Juskowiak.

The 64-year-old has only one condition – he would like to be able to leave after the play-offs.

Brzęczek returns to the staff?

– Now there is a new president, so he could offer Brzęczek back to the team without any hesitation, at least for the next three months – notes Juskowiak. I am talking about the period in which Poland will play in the play-offs for the World Cup to be played next year in Qatar.

Would such a solution be correct? According to the former Polish representative, yes. Juskowiak claims that Brzęczek fulfilled his task while serving as a selector, i.e. he was promoted to EURO 2020. During his term of office, however, there were many votes demanding the dismissal and employment of a new coach. Now we know that replacing Brzęczek with Sous was not a very good solution. The question is whether a return to the situation from a year ago would be a recipe for promotion to the next big tournament.
