Brazilian David Neres, who was discovered by São Paulo, could be leaving Benfica in this transfer window. According to the Italian newspaper Sports CourierNapoli would be observing the player’s situation.
According to the outlet, David Neres asked Benfica to sell him, as he does not want to live in the “shadow” of Di María, who is one of the team’s main players. To negotiate the striker, the Portuguese club is reportedly asking for 20 million euros (around R$120 million).

David Neres completed his second season at Benfica in a completely opposite way to his first. When he arrived in 2022/2023, he was used a lot, having scored 12 goals and distributed 15 assists.
With the arrival of Di María the following season, Neres lost his place in the starting line-up and scored five goals, in addition to providing five assists. Before joining Benfica, the Brazilian had spells at São Paulo, Ajax and Shakhtar Donetsk.
In addition to David Neres, Napoli are also reportedly eyeing 23-year-old Scottish midfielder Billy Gilmour from Brighton. The Italian club are currently hoping to keep hold of their star player, Victor Osimhen, who has been attracting interest from European giants.
