With no space at Atlético de Madrid, João Felix becomes target of English club

Aston Villa are interested in signing Atlético Madrid striker João Felix, according to The Guardian. The English club are looking to replace Frenchman Moussa Diaby, who is close to being sold to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia for 60 million euros (around R$364 million).

The 24-year-old Portuguese player was bought by the Colchoneros for a high fee in 2019, when he transferred from Benfica. Despite this, he failed to establish himself at the Spanish team and was loaned out for the last two seasons.

In 2022/23, he joined Chelsea and played for six months in English football. In 2023/24, he played for Barcelona. At the Catalan club, João Félix took part in 44 matches, scored ten goals and provided six assists.

According to The Guardian, the striker is one of the names that would please coach Unai Emery. In addition to the Portuguese, Aston Villa are also interested in Nico Williams, from Athletic Bilbao, however, the athlete is Barcelona’s main target in the transfer market.
