Running coach Marnie Kunz has named the required number of steps for men and women over 60. This is reported on the Men Today website.
According to the source, women and men need to walk at least 7,500 steps. A study of older women and men found that participants who walked 4,400 steps a day were much less likely to die from any cause than those who walked 2,700 steps a day.
Kuntz noted that walking improves heart health and helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. It also increases endurance, strengthens muscles and bones, which helps prevent injuries and improves athletic performance.
Earlier, cardiologist German Gandelman named a simple exercise for the prevention of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. According to him, this is regular walking up the stairs, which leads to the expansion of blood vessels and improved blood circulation in the heart, brain and muscles.
