Zhurova: Not all heads of international federations will be happy about the absence of Russians at the Olympics
Olympic champion, First Deputy Chairperson of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Svetlana Zhurova named those who will be happy about the absence of Russians at the 2024 Olympics. RIA Novosti quotes her.
“Of course, the West will be happy about our absence from the Olympic Games. But real athletes and specialists probably won’t be happy. And not even all presidents of international sports federations think the absence of Russians is good,” he said. According to her, the absence of strong rivals is the wrong option.
The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians have been admitted to the competition as individual neutral athletes. Individual representatives of tennis, cycling, trampoline jumping, canoeing and swimming have confirmed their participation in the tournament.
Some of the invited athletes refused to participate in the Games. This decision was made by wrestlers and judokas.
