Tomasz Czukiewski is known as the creator of the channel Interesting Histories, where he has already gathered almost 600 thousand subscribers. In June, the creator encouraged fans on Facebook to watch the latest film – “Jarocin 84-24”, where he told the story of the iconic Polish festival.
TVP forced YouTube to remove the video from the Interesting Stories channel
Some time ago, the YouTuber informed via the X portal about the problems caused by the aforementioned material. – Polish Television forced YouTube to remove my film “Jarocin 84 – 24” by falsely claiming that the whole thing was an illegal copy. YouTube removed it and gave me a warning (3 warnings means the end of the channel). In reality, 80% of this film are my interviews – several dozen days of work – claims Czukiewski.
asked Telewizja Polska for a comment on the matter. – The film “Jarocin 84 – 24” disappeared from YouTube because it used a fragment of the Telewizja Polska broadcast entitled “Jarocin ’84” without TVP’s consent, which violates the copyrights of the public broadcaster – we read in the response. The station emphasizes that Czukiewski never asked Telewizja Polska for consent to use the aforementioned materials.
TVP comments on Czukiewski’s film. “He did not apply for any consent to use these fragments”
– Granting a license by Telewizja Polska for the use of its archival materials by third parties is a standard procedure and TVP most often grants consent for the use of fragments in new audiovisual works – emphasizes the station, which assures that the TVP Trade and International Cooperation Office can easily confirm that the author of the film did not apply for any consent to use fragments of the film.
At the same time, Telewizja Polska emphasizes that it appreciates Tomasz Czukiewski’s activity, but the YouTuber’s valuable content “cannot be an excuse for violating the law.”
Czukiewski claims that he used the right to quote in his material, and accuses the public broadcaster of bad faith. – – When filing its claim, TVP should file a claim to the fragments to which it has copyright. It is possible. Meanwhile, they indicated that the entirety is their property, which is not true. This was done on purpose so that the channel would receive a warning – we read on the X portal.
The creator indicated that he did not leave the matter at that and also filed his claims with the platform from which his film disappeared. – – I hope that YouTube will withdraw the warning after checking the case and restore the film. Otherwise, the matter will have to be explained by the court. Until the case is resolved, I will not deal with Polish topics on the channel or use fragments of Polish Television – Czukiewski noted.
