Android Central: Samsung’s Foldable Smartphones to Get Dust Resistance for the First Time
Samsung engineers have added dust protection to new foldable smartphones, Android Central reports.
According to insiders, the future folding devices of the Korean brand will receive dust protection for the first time. Most likely, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be certified according to the IP48 standard.
The media authors recalled that the first Samsung folding gadgets did not have any protection even from moisture. However, due to small particles of debris getting into the hinge mechanism, the folding device may fail. According to experts, the number “4” in the IPX8 rating means that the gadgets will be protected from particles larger than one millimeter.
“It only takes one speck of dust to get into the hinge or under the display to cause major damage,” the authors of Android Central noted. In conclusion, the journalists also reminded that current foldable smartphones have full protection against moisture.
At the end of June, Samsung Corporation announced the date of the next Galaxy Unpacked presentation of gadgets. The event, where the foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 and the smart ring Galaxy Ring are to be presented, will take place on July 10.
