Tarpischev: If there is an opportunity, Russian athletes should go to the Olympics
The head of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) Shamil Tarpishchev explained the need for domestic athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games. His words are quoted by TASS.
“If they allow it, if there is an opportunity, our athletes should go to the Olympics. Be that as it may, everyone still knows that this is a Russian athlete. Plus, given the conditions, it will be a big school – to withstand such pressure,” he said. Tarpishchev added that the Olympians are an example for future generations.
The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians have been admitted to the competition as individual neutral athletes. Individual representatives of tennis, cycling, trampoline jumping, canoeing and swimming have confirmed their participation in the tournament.
Some of the invited athletes refused to participate in the Games. This decision was made by wrestlers and judokas.
