Ukraine Demands IOC to Revoke Olympic Invitations for Nine Russians
The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine and the country’s Ministry of Sports have demanded that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) cancel invitations to the 2024 Games for nine Russian athletes. This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian NOC.
According to the Ukrainian side, the athletes in question, including wrestlers Alan Ostayev, Magomed Murtazaliev, Arslan Bagayev, and canoeist Alexey Korovashkov, do not meet the requirements of neutrality. The NOC and the Ministry of Sports of Ukraine expressed hope that the IOC would take appropriate measures.
On June 15, the IOC published the first list of Russian athletes who have been admitted to the 2024 Games in Paris. It is updated regularly.
The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians are allowed to compete as individual neutral athletes.
