Buchanan started Canada’s Group A opener at the Copa América, a 2-0 loss to Argentina. He then started on the bench in the 1-0 win over Peru and the goalless draw with Chile.
The Canadian team, making its debut in the continental tournament, advanced to the quarterfinals as the second-placed team in the group and on Friday will go to Arlington, Texas, to face Venezuela for a place in the semifinals.
