Police investigate beating of fan by stewards at Euro 2024 match
Frankfurt police have launched an investigation into an incident in which stewards beat a fan at the 2024 European Football Championship round of 16 match between Portugal and Slovenia, Reuters reports.
“We are aware of the video and are investigating the alleged assault,” said Binto Lond, a spokesman for Frankfurt police.
Earlier, a video appeared online in which stadium staff in Frankfurt punched a fan in the face several times, then threw him to the ground and began kicking him. Another fan was held face down on the floor at the same time.
The incident occurred during the Euro 2024 round of 16 match between Slovenia and Portugal. The game ended with the latter winning in a penalty shootout.
