Serbia has threatened to withdraw from Euro 2024 if UEFA does not punish Albania and Croatia
The General Secretary of the Sebia Football Union, Jovan Surbatovic, addressed the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) with a demand to punish the national teams of Albania and Croatia for the behavior of their fans during the match of the second round of the Euro 2024 group stage. The Sun reports this.
The reason for the appeal was a chant calling for physical violence against the Serbs. Fans of both teams chanted it. “If UEFA doesn’t punish them, we can withdraw from the tournament,” Surbatovic threatened.
The meeting between Albania and Croatia took place on June 19. The game ended with the score 2:2.
Earlier, UEFA fined the Albanian Football Association 37 thousand euros due to the behavior of fans in the game with Italy (1:2). In addition, the Football Union of Serbia was ordered to pay 14.5 thousand euros. Fans of the national team violated law and order in the meeting with England (0:1).
