Wrestlers Mamedov and Bagaev were among the 14 Russians admitted to the Olympics
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) published on its website the names of the first 14 athletes from Russia admitted to the 2024 Summer Games in Paris in neutral status.
The list includes 10 representatives of wrestling, including Shamil Mamedov and Arslan Bagaev, cyclists Tamara Dronova, Alena Ivanchenko, Alexander Vlasov, as well as Angela Bladtseva, who represents trampolining.
The IOC clarified that athletes will be allowed to compete if they accept an individual invitation and sign a document stating the need to comply with the conditions of participation in the Games.
The IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the 2024 Games as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not get to Paris. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
