Morocco scores six in Congo in the African World Cup qualifiers

Morocco hosted Congo this Tuesday, in the fourth round of the African Qualifiers. The home team won 6-0, maintaining their 100% record in the competition. The match would be in Congo, but the field command was reversed due to the armed conflict in the country.

With the victory, Morocco remains at the top of Group E, with nine points from three matches. Congo, in turn, has not yet won in the Qualifiers and is at the bottom of the group, with two games played.

The next commitment of the two teams will only be in 2025, for the fifth round of the Qualifiers. The Moroccan team visits Niger on March 17, while the Congolese team faces Tanzania on the same day, also away from home.

After just 7 minutes, Ounahi received the ball at the edge of the area, cleared the ball and scored a beautiful goal for Morocco. After a wrong attempt to play, the Congolese defense lost the ball and Chad Riad took advantage of the gift to score the home team’s second, in the 15th minute.

At 19, Achraf Hakimi crossed to El Kaabi, who just put it into the goal. After a good play on the right side, Ouhani passed for El Kaabi to score his second and Morocco’s fourth, in the 38th minute.

At 7 minutes into the second half, after a rehearsed free kick, Ounahi repeated the assist for El Kaabi to complete his hat-trick. At 17, in a counterattack, Brahim Díaz passed to Soufiane Rahimi, who invaded the area and crossed the ball to score the sixth.
