Vallejo He was an industrial draftsman by profession, but his hobby was the mountains, and proof of this is that he was one of the promoters and members of the first Basque expedition to Everest (8,848 meters) in 1974. In fact, they reached the last high altitude camp (above 8,500 meters) on May 12, and spent the night there with the intention of reaching the summit the next day; However, they were forced to turn back due to bad weather.

Several later, in 1980, he also took part in a second attempt, in which he was also Felipe Uriarte. On that occasion he could not climb the summit either, something he did achieve Martin Zabaleta on May 14 with the Sherpa Pasang Temba.
