After the official announcement of José Mourinho as their new coach, Fenerbahçe is already working on major reinforcements to strengthen the squad. According to the Turkish newspaper Fansthe Portuguese coach would have already set his eyes on two renowned Barcelona players: Robert Lewandowski and Ilkay Gundogan.
Lewandowski still has two years left on his contract with Barça and was close to leaving when Xavi’s stay was announced. But, even with the departure of the Spanish coach and the hiring of Lewa’s former coach, Hansi Flick, he may even accept an offer.
Gundogan has been a long-time desire for Turkey’s biggest clubs, as the player – who plays for the German national team – is of Turkish descent and would therefore bring great commercial appeal to the country’s fans. According to the newspaper, there have already been initial talks for the athlete, which is a great desire of Fenerbahçe president Ali Koç.
