Coach Cherchesov said that the Kazakhstan national team fits his concept
Russian coach Stanislav Cherchesov spoke about the decision to lead the Kazakhstan national team. His words are quoted on the website of the Kazakhstan Football Federation.
“I think that the Kazakhstan national team fits my concept. I have already been here more than once; Kazakhstan is a country with a mentality close to me,” Cherchesov explained. The specialist added that he will work not only with the adult team, but also with the youth and youth teams.
On June 3, it was announced that Cherchesov was appointed to the post of head coach of the Kazakhstan national team. The duration of the contract and financial terms were not disclosed.
Cherchesov’s previous place of work was the Hungarian Ferencvaros, with whom he won the championship twice and took the national Cup. The coach left the Budapest club in the summer of 2023.
From 2016 to 2021, Cherchesov was the head coach of the Russian national team. Together with him, the team reached the quarterfinals of the 2018 home world championship.
