Bellingham gets a week off before joining England for the Euros

England beat Bosnia 3-0 this Monday, in a friendly to prepare for the European Championship. After the match, England coach Gareth Southgate revealed that he gave Bellingham a week to rest after winning the Champions League with Real Madrid.

The English coach praised the achievement of Bellingham, who in his first season at Real Madrid, has already won the Spanish Championship and the Champions League. The team commander explained the decision to rest the player for the European Championship.

“We could have him show up tomorrow and be tough, saying, ‘You have to be with the group and integrate as quickly as possible’, but let’s think about the individual. Jude (Bellingham) played until the end of the season, in addition to where everyone else played. The psychological freshness will be good for him. He is super professional, so physically it will be good for him. For us, we didn’t need to see him before next Saturday,” Southgate said.

The coach also praised Bellingham’s great season. The English player played 42 games, scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists in his first year at Real Madrid.

“It was a fantastic season to join the biggest club in the world and perform like you have throughout the year. It’s been an incredible year for him (Jude Bellingham) and I’m so happy he won on Saturday. For him, finishing the season by winning the Champions League crowns a phenomenal year and I’m very happy for him”, concluded coach Southgate.
