Head of the FSGR Titov: Russian athletes are taking a lot of risks when going to the 2024 Games
The President of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation (FSGR) Vasily Titov assessed the risks for athletes wishing to go to the 2024 Olympic Games. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to Titov, Russian athletes are taking a great risk when going to the Games in Paris due to possible provocations. “I don’t doubt for a second that the Ukrainian side will not miss this. At the same time, international federations completely refuse any support and protection of these athletes,” concluded the head of the FSGR.
Earlier, the President of the Russian Fencing Federation, Ilgar Mamedov, stated that the conditions for admission of Russians to the 2024 Olympics are similar to racial segregation in the United States. “Like before in the United States there were signs saying: ‘Only whites allowed in. Negroes and dogs not allowed in,’” he noted.
The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians, if a number of conditions are met, will be able to compete in the individual competitions of the tournament in a neutral status. However, they will not be allowed to participate in the parade of delegations at the opening ceremony of the Games.
