The Olympic champion responded to insults from Russians who wanted to compete in Paris

Mamun criticized the insults against Russians wishing to perform at the Olympic Games

Russian Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics Margarita Mamun responded to insults against her compatriots who want to compete at the 2024 Games in Paris. The athlete spoke out on the Vitya Kravchenko YouTube channel.

The gymnast noted that she does not support radical statements by officials on the topic of participation in the Olympics. “For me, the most important thing in sport is respect. I grew up in such a family and trained in such conditions for most of my career. It’s very painful for me to listen to statements about homeless people, this is impossible,” said Mamun.

She also noted that the Friendship Games cannot be considered a replacement for the Olympics. “Games are something incredible and wonderful, every time something very cool happens there. If our athletes do not participate there, it will be very sad,” Mamun added.

Earlier, the head of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics, Irina Viner, called representatives of the country who want to perform at the Games in Paris “homeless.” The head of the Russian Olympic Committee, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, also criticized Russian tennis players who want to compete at the Olympic Games. He called them a team of foreign agents.
