Zhirkov remembered his desire to move to Spartak

Former Russian midfielder Yuri Zhirkov spoke about where he wanted to leave Chelsea London. The interview with the athlete was published on the Sychev podcast and Denis Kazansky channel on YouTube.

The player remembered his desire to move to Spartak. The footballer said that he asked the owner of Chelsea Roman Abramovich to let him go to the Moscow team, but he refused. “I don’t know if it’s connected with money or if they had some kind of agreements of their own. I ended up at Anji, ”said Zhirkov.

The Russian also noted that Spartak was interested in buying it. Zhirkov said that he met with Valery Karpin, who was then the head of the red and white.

Zhirkov moved from Chelsea to Anji in 2011. He spent two years in the Makhachkala team. Since June 2021, the midfielder has been without a club. His last team was Zenit St. Petersburg.
