Dmitry Medvedev linked Zenit’s championship with God’s providence
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev reacted to the victory of St. Petersburg Zenit in the national championship of the 2023/2024 season. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The politician associated the incident with the intervention of God. “This is the work of the coaching team, of course, the Zenit players, and God’s providence,” Medvedev noted.
The ex-president of Russia added that, as a native of St. Petersburg, the victory of the blue-white-blues was especially pleasant for him. “I wish Zenit new victories and wonderful football. Congratulations. “Zenit is the champion,” Medvedev said.
Zenit won its sixth consecutive title in the Russian Premier League (RPL) on May 25. In the last round, Sergei Semak’s team beat Rostov (2:1), and their main competitor in the fight for gold medals, Dynamo, lost to Krasnodar (0:1).
