BLIK was introduced in Poland in 2015 and today it is difficult to imagine “banking” without this payment system. Soon, BLIK will also be available to residents of other countries, but that’s not all.
BLIK is preparing new products. It will be available, among others: for Apple users
In 2024, PSP plans to launch the so-called recursive payments, in other words subscription payments. What is it about? The user of the banking application will be able to make payments “in the background”, i.e., for example, pay bills without having to provide the card number. All you need to do is generate a standard BLIK code during the first transaction of this type. Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, president of Polski Standard Płatności, adds in an interview with the portal that he will also offer banks the possibility of BLIK payments on devices with the Apple system. – No one in Europe has done this so far, and we are “entering” there with BLIK in 2024, while still being involved in changes in European regulations – says the head of PSP.
BLIK will also be available to residents of other countries
Czechs, Slovaks and Romanians will soon also be able to use BLIK, because their banks have established cooperation with the Polish Payment Standard. – Initially, a Slovak will pay in a Slovak store using a Slovak bank application, similarly in the case of Romania and the Czech Republic – says the president of PSP. The next step is to be the so-called interoperability, i.e. connecting payments between markets. Mazurkiewicz adds that “Poles will be able to easily make purchases in Slovakia or Romania and use the BLIK tool.” He explains that PSP is soon planning a “rally” around the euro zone with BLIK. Slovakia is to be a kind of “pilot” in this case. Mazurkiewicz declares that “within three years, BLIK will become an important tool in the euro zone.”
From the beginning of the year to the end of March 2024, 16.3 million Poles used BLIK and made over 500 million payment transactions. This is a result of 39 percent. higher than in the first quarter of 2023. Let us recall that primarily from transaction settlement fees paid by banks and settlement agents and transaction authorization fees.
