The Premier League Council responded to Everton’s request that, due to injuries and infections by covid-19, they won’t have enough players to play in the match.
Last Thursday, the League had already announced the postponement of two games: Wolverhampton vs Watford and Liverpool vs Leeds United.

In a statement this week, the Premier League said it understands the delicate situation faced by clubs, but will continue with the calendar.
“While I recognize that several clubs are facing covid-19 outbreaks, it is the collective intention of the clubs and the League to continue with the current schedule of games whenever possible,” the statement said.
The Premier League has 17 games scheduled until the end of 2021. The 19th round will have six games in the traditional Boxing Day, on December 26th, and another on the 27th. The 20th round, in turn, has duels scheduled for the 28th, 29th and 30th.
