Russian figure skaters Morozov and Eremenko are thinking about joining the US team
Russian figure skaters Annabel Morozov and Igor Eremenko, performing in ice dancing, are again thinking about changing their sports citizenship. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to a source familiar with the situation.
Morozov has Russian, American and French citizenship. According to the source, from a legal point of view, the transition to the US team is easier to implement than to the French team.
In November 2023, it became known that the duo had been considering the possibility of joining the French national team for a long time. It was expected that the skaters would train in the United States under the guidance of Annabelle’s father, coach and choreographer Nikolai Morozov. However, France denied contacts with the Russians on this issue.
The couple has been performing together since February 2023; they missed the 2023/2024 season. Previously, Morozov skated with Andrey Bagin and David Narizhny, Eremenko skated with Sofia Shevchenko.
