is currently one of the most popular Hollywood actors in the world. He has had many outstanding roles in films such as “The Doppelganger”, “Zombieland”, “The Illusion” and “The Social Network”, for which he was even nominated for an Oscar. The Hollywood star shot a film in Poland. Eisenberg admitted that some of the plot concerns his family
We’re talking about a comedy-drama, translated as “True Pain”, whose world premiere will take place during this year’s edition of the Sundance Independent Film Festival in the United States. The main plot is the story of two Americans who, after their grandmother’s death, decide to go on a trip to Poland to delve into the history of their family and learn more about their origins. The action begins in New York, but the vast majority of it continues, among others, in Warsaw, Lublin and Krasnystaw.
As Eisenberg, who not only plays one of the main roles but also directs the production, confessed, the inspiration for its creation was the true story of his family. – Much of this film is based on the true story of my family. We even shot one of the scenes in the apartment from which my family escaped in 1938 – in a recording that one of the cast members published online, adding that he made his first trip to the country on the Vistula River in 2007 and has been returning here regularly since then. .
Eisenberg has Polish roots. The actor is applying for citizenship
It has been known for a long time that Eisenberg has . The actor recently appeared at the Impact congress in Poznań, during which he gave an interview to the program’s journalist. He confessed that his maternal great-grandmother, Hyman Mendelsohn, was born in Krasnystaw, as was one of his paternal great-grandfathers, Sam Eisenberg, who was also born in Poland. – In America I felt a bit isolated from the world. And just like that, I became connected with Poland, he said, adding that he talked about his heritage in the film, which contains many biographical threads. Interestingly, his wife’s family, which lived in one of the towns near Łódź, also comes from the country on the Vistula River.
During the conversation, the actor revealed that he already had a Polish social security number and PESEL. However, he does not intend to stop there and also wants to obtain Polish citizenship. – Now I’m just waiting to get citizenship – he said, emphasizing how important it is for him. – I feel a great connection with this country. In my opinion, the histories of Jews and Poles are intertwined, although currently they are not presented in the best way. I would like to help repair Polish-Jewish relations. This film does that, he continued, explaining that obtaining a document certifying his nationality would not only enable him to act professionally, but would also change his private life. – I would like to have Polish citizenship so that my wife and my son can spend more time with me here – said the star.
