Euskaraz irakurri: Bost setetara partek, aurtengo Bizkaia Torneoaren nobedade nagusia

A total of 24 pelotaris will participate in the 11th edition of the Bizkaia Tournament of ball, starting June 1, as detailed in the presentation this Wednesday. The main novelty is that the matches will be played best of five setsand not 22 points, as until now.

The sets will be played to 6 points, and in the event of a two-set tie, the fifth set, the tiebreaker, will be played to three points. The organization has stressed that this change seeks to promote equality, make the game more competitive among pelota players, and make it more attractive to the public.

The tournament is organized by six groups that take their name from as many mountains in Bizkaia:

Anboto

Couples: P. Etxeberria-Martija | 4 and a half: Zabala | Hand in hand: Exposito

Ganekogorta

Couples: Artola-Imaz | 4 and a half: Agirre | Hand in hand: Senar

Gorbeia

Couples: Elordi-Zabaleta | 4 and a half: Elezkano II | Hand in hand: Salaberria

Kolitza

Couples: Urrutikoetxea-Albisu | 4 and a half: Jaka | Hand in hand: Zubizarreta III

Oiz

Couples: Altuna III-Rezusta | 4 and a half: Ezkurdia | Hand in hand: Egiguren V

Sollube

Couples: Laso-Mariezkurrena II | 4 and a half: Peña II | Hand in hand: Bakaikoa

The qualifiers will be played on June 1 in Urduliz (Kolitza vs. Ganekogorta), on June 14 in Zeanuri (Oiz vs. Anboto), on June 15 at Deportivo de Bilbao (Sollube vs. Kolitza or Ganekogorta), and on June 16 in Mallabia (Gorbeia vs. Oiz or Anboto). The final will be played on August 20during the Aste Nagusia of Bilbao, in the Bizkaia Frontoia.
