Possible changes under the new Minister of Sports are named

The State Duma is expecting changes with the arrival of the new Minister of Sports, said Rima Batalova, a member of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports. Together with the head of the Duma committee, Dmitry Svishchev, they announced in a conversation with Lenta.ru the innovations that are expected when Mikhail Degtyarev is appointed governor of the Khabarovsk Territory.

“Of course, when a new person comes into the structure, there must be changes, and we are waiting for them, we are waiting for the program that he announced, especially mass sports. He is not taking up this position at such an easy time, because, we all know very well, we are now expecting the Olympic and Paralympic Games, but he is a person who has already seen in the region the problems that exist, and the baggage with which he is going, I think it will help him in his future work, so good luck, and together we will make our sport more accessible, more widespread, so that our children are healthy,” Batalova said.

Speaking at a meeting of the State Duma with a keynote speech, Degtyarev outlined many of the main points that will be included in the work of the ministry, Svishchev said. First of all, this is the implementation of the May decrees and other instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which are related to sports topics, he specified.

“There is a huge amount of work. Even now we have 12 joint bills in the works. Also, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin has repeatedly stated today that sports should become free. This means that sport must become transparent, nepotism in sports must go away. Everyone is talking about this, now it needs to be implemented. The issue of foreign players was raised, the issue of agents was raised, that is, those issues that are now on the lips of the sports community. They are likely to be raised with the sports ministry for a decision soon. The work is enormous,” the parliamentarian shared.

The deputy noted that there are few leaders like Degtyarev who managed to work in both the legislative and executive branches. He recalled that the current governor of the Khabarovsk Territory previously headed the State Duma Committee on Physical Education and Sports.

“This is very important when you not only know how to write laws, but also understand that it must be implemented, you understand what problems this or that industry faces. Let’s say, if we are talking about sports, then Mikhail Vladimirovich, as the governor of the region, faced precisely these problems every day and solved them, so we really hope that his work experience will help him solve all-Russian issues and problems of sports,” the interlocutor concluded “ Lenti.ru”.

The upcoming replacement of the current acting Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin became known on May 7. The main contender for the post was the governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Mikhail Degtyarev.
