Russian figure skater Alisa Ovsyankina, representing ice dancing, will join the French national team. Coach Marien de la Asuncion told TASS about this.

The coach said that the 16-year-old athlete will be paired with Maximilian Raie. He noted that in July 2024 they will take part in the selection for the Junior Grand Prix in France.

The athlete moved to Lyon, France, and teamed up with Rayet in 2023. Before this, Ovsyankina performed with Matvey Samokhin. With him, the skater became the silver medalist at the Russian Junior Grand Prix and took fifth place at the 2022 Russian Junior Championships.

On May 3, coach Alexander Zhulin spoke about the fees of Russian skaters. According to Zhulin, the athletes did not lose financially due to the suspension, because in return many other tournaments were held in Russia.

On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under its auspices. International tournaments in the two countries were also cancelled.
