Brazilian mixed martial artist (MMA) Charles Oliveira has admitted that his next opponent will be Irishman Conor McGregor. His words are quoted by Sherdog.
Oliveira, 32, said he wants to fight the Irishman at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament on May 7 in Brazil. Thus, the reigning UFC lightweight champion is ready to give McGregor a chance, and the Irishman himself will not have to win contender status by defeating rating fighters.
“Not only Conor himself, but me and the whole world want to see such a fight. Let’s arrange it, ”he said. The Brazilian also admitted that the fight could take place in a different weight category. In this case, McGregor will not qualify for the belt.
McGregor continues to recover from injury in his third fight against Dustin Poirier. In July, he broke his leg at the end of the first round of a fight with the American.
Oliveira successfully defended his UFC lightweight title. He defeated Poirier in the main event at UFC 269, forcing the American to surrender.
