Manta tourism sector will pronounce itself in the next few hours after the resolutions adopted by the COE.
MANTA, Manabi
After the new measures adopted by the National Emergency Operations Committee (COE), which ordered the closure of activities in bars, discos and restrictions on other events, the Manta tourism sector was concerned about the cancellations.
In Manta, losses in the tourism sector are estimated to fluctuate between two and three million dollars, according to a first balance projected by the Tourism Directorate of the municipality of this Manabi canton.
Although the cantonal COE has not yet met, Isidro Rodríguez, director of that municipal department, acknowledged that several hoteliers, for example, have indicated that there have been cancellation of hotel room reservations and even suspension of weddings agreed in these days until the end of the year, and also cancellations at corporate dinners.
The losses will be large for that sector, Rodríguez declared, even more so when it is suddenly indicated that events such as corporate ones should be suspended, where there were reservations in hotels and places that offer this type of services.
“They have made this decision (cancellation of events or cancellation of hotel reservation) due to the uncertainty produced by this type of resolution, we are not unaware that we are facing a new variant, but perhaps other decisions could be made or reduced capacity and schedules, but now The private company that was promoting events has made this decision based on the uncertainty that this generates, ”said Rodríguez.
More than 8,300 officials will provide assistance and security against contingencies during Christmas and New Year’s holidays in Manabí
In Manta, even before the decisions of the national COE, there was a level of reservation of rooms in four and five-star hotels that reached 80%, according to the report of the Department of Tourism of the Municipality of this Manabi city.
And the cancellations of events have already become official since Tuesday afternoon through social networks. The party called White Party, which was agreed for this 23, was postponed after the measures adopted by the COE, and its organizers announced through social networks that they intend to hold it once the resumption of events at the national level is allowed.
Those who had already purchased pre-sale tickets can access to return their money or stay for the new date of the party.
Another suspended event was the so-called Gold Party, which was expected to take place on January 1 from 01:00 and in which the singer Cayito Dangond would perform.
The event was to be held at the Umiña Tennis Club, on the road to Barbasquillo, in Manta. The organizers also made an invitation to those who purchased the pre-sale passes to access this party to go to where they purchased them to reimburse them.
“It is our obligation as a responsible company to safeguard the integrity of all and comply with what is stipulated,” said a statement from the organizers of the so-called Gold Party.
In the next few hours, a statement is expected from the various tourist associations of the city before the resolutions of the COE at the national level. (I)
