The Organizing Committee of the 2024 Games denied involvement in the exclusion of volunteers from Russia from the Olympic Games
The organizing committee of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games (OSG) in Paris made a statement about the non-admission of volunteers from Russia to the tournament. The commentary is provided by RIA Novosti.
The organizing committee denied any involvement in the refusal of volunteers. “Character [решений] means that we are required to exclude from the volunteer program any person who does not obtain the necessary clearance. The verification process applies to all Paris 2024 personnel, as well as to all accredited participants of the Games, in particular volunteers,” the statement noted.
On April 30, it became known that the French authorities rejected applications for accreditation for the Olympic Games 2024 from more than 20 Russian volunteers. Later, the volunteers said that they planned to contact French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin. “We were going to work at the Olympics, not discuss politics,” one of the contenders emphasized.
The Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians, if a number of conditions are met, will be able to compete in the individual competitions of the tournament in a neutral status.
