“He runs better than the Polish national football team”, “Iwona gives 10”, “They only dance one or two dances, and this poor guy dances the entire episode” – these are just some of the comments that appeared under the video posted on Tik Tok by user with the nickname Steadicam13. Behind it is the camera operator Daniel Pietrzak, working on the set of “Dancing with the Stars”, who is probably not that “poor” because it is clear that he finds joy in his work and willingly – and with a distance from himself – shares it with others .
The couple in “Dancing with the Stars” dances for a few minutes, he runs almost constantly
Steadycam replaces a tripod in situations where the operator is on the move but still wants to have a level and stable image, without shakes. Thanks to the answers to questions posted under the videos given by the operator of “Dancing with the Stars”, we know that the equipment he uses costs hundreds of thousands of zlotys and requires a lot of strength, because the whole thing weighs about 22-25 kg. He also reveals that he is the only camera operator who “dances” in this way during one episode, there is no substitute.
Under the video of his “performance” around the program participants, one of the people wrote:
The operator of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is like the music room in the finale of ‘Familiada’. They tell you it exists, but you won’t believe it until you see it.
“Have you ever had a meltdown?” He replies: Not yet
Many people point out that they did not know that a running person was responsible for such shots. Some people choose a drone, others expected equipment suspended above the package. The comment: “I was sure they were showing this camera from the ceiling or on rails” has already collected over half a thousand likes. To another person who asked if he had ever crashed, he replied “not yet.” Here you can see from a different perspective what his work looks like:
– Do you fly around all the time or do you have choreography? – one of the people asks, to which the operator replies: “There is choreography, but often in a circle.” – Everything is decided during rehearsals, I make notes, and during the program there is an assistant to the vision director who counts down the time until a given camera comes on – he explains in another video in response to a question about how he knows what and how to shoot at a given moment. No wonder the reactions to his materials are extremely positive, including such terms as “master”, “best” and “secondary hero”.
