Chelsea could repatriate Antonio Conte if Pochettino resigns

Chelsea could be eyeing a change in their coaching leadership for next season. According to the Italian newspaper The Republicthe Blues want to repatriate Italian Antonio Conte, in the event of the dismissal of their current coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino is having a bad first season leading the Chelsea team. Currently in 9th place in the Premier League table with 48 points, the team has received a high number of criticisms from the English media and fans related to poor results, mainly taking into account the fact that, since the purchase of the club in 2022, Its new owners spent around 1 billion euros (approximately R$5.5 billion at current prices) on transfer fees.

Antonio Conte already coached Chelsea between 2016 and 2018, winning an English Championship and an FA Cup during the period. He has been without a club since being fired from Tottenham in 2023.

According to the newspaper, there have already been the first positive contacts between the club and the coach, and he “should respond in the coming weeks”. The 54-year-old coach also has Italian clubs such as Juventus, Milan and Napoli interested in signing him, and he will certainly not remain without a club for next season.
