The first stage of the Itzulia Women of 2024 disputes the Friday 10th Mayleaves Vitoria-Gasteizends in Elgoibar and foresees a 140 kilometer route. The participants will leave at 9:48 hoursand the winner, according to the estimate made by the race organization, will finish the course between 1:18 p.m. and 1:42 p.m.

The third edition of Itzulia, in this context, is going to begin with its longest stageand, as Itzulia herself highlights, with the day with the most accumulated unevenness. The cyclists must overcome a route that includes three scoring ports, Olaeta, 3rd, Azkarate 2nd, and Itziar, 3rdbut, in addition to these ascents, the participants will encounter constant ups and downs.

According to the Itzulia organization, it may be a favorable stage to search for the leak, before the Olaeta pass, which is crowned at kilometer 37.7, or on the ascent to said stop itself. It must also be taken into account that in the final section the route climbs continuously, on a false plateau that leads to the finish line, located in Elgoibar.

Thus, the race, after leaving Vitoria-Gasteiz behind, will pass through Legutiobefore the ascension to Olaeta. It is a 3rd class pass, short, since it includes a climb of 1.9 kilometers, but tough, because its average slope is 9%. Olaeta precedes the entry of the race in Gipuzkoawith Bergara, Soraluze and Elgoibar on the path of the runners, before Azkarate, from 2nd, under whose banner the stage will travel at kilometer 88.5. Azkarate represents an ascent of 4.2 kilometers, at 7.3%.

When the Itzulia then pass by Azpeitia, there will be just over 42 kilometers left for the conclusion. At kilometer 120.8, it is crowned Itziar, 3rd, which foresees an effort of 7.1 kilometers, at 2.8%. After his descent, in owewill take place second special sprint of the journey; the first, at kilometer 81.8, is disputed in Elgoibarwhich is the point at which this first stage of the third edition of the Itzulia will end.

The Elgoibar podium will be the place where the first winner of the race, in addition to celebrating her stage victory, puts on the yellow jersey. There will still be two days left in which anything can happen.
