In the opinion of the Itzulia organization, Basauri is a stage in which there could be differences in the general. It will be key for the runners to remain well positioned in the race in the last ten kilometers, and to know how to respond appropriately to possible changes in pace that may occur: “It will probably be the most nervous stage of this edition,” says Itzulia, which places the key to determining which cyclist will win in the constant ups and downs that the route provides.

The last section of the stage will witness the dispute of the two special sprints of the day, in Galdakao and Basauri, 23 and 14 kilometers from the finish line, respectively.
