Despite a balanced record, Real has a recent history in its favor against Bayern

This Tuesday (30), Bayern Munich and Real Madrid face each other in Germany, in the semi-finals of the Champions League. Long-time rivals, the clash between the teams is considered a classic in Europe, with landmark matches in the history of football. Real Madrid leads the record among clubs in the Champions League with just one victory difference, but with a wide advantage in the most recent games.

In the European tournament, Bayern and Real have already faced each other on 26 occasions. The Spanish have won 12 times, while the Germans have won 11. The duel has three draws.

Despite the balanced record, Bayern Munich have not beaten Real Madrid in 12 years. The last time the Germans beat the Spanish was on April 17, 2012, in the first game of that year’s Champions League semifinals. On that occasion, Ribéry and Mario Gómez scored for the German club, while Ozil scored for the Madrid team.

Furthermore, in the last three qualifiers between the clubs, Real Madrid qualified in all of them. The teams faced each other in the Champions League in the 2013/14, 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons. In all these editions, the champion was precisely the Madrid team.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid face each other this Tuesday at the Allianz Arena, at 4pm (Brasília time), in the first game of the Champions League semi-finals. The return game will take place on 05/08, Wednesday, this time at the Santiago Bernabéu, in Spain.
