Viktor Rashnikov called Putin’s words about the impossibility of getting through to him a joke
President of Metallurg Magnitogorsk Viktor Rashnikov explained why Russian President Vladimir Putin could not reach him by phone after the team’s victory in the Gagarin Cup. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Rashnikov called Putin’s words a joke. “After the victory I sat for half an hour [в ожидании звонка], then they called after another half hour, they said in an hour. And then they said, we’ll postpone it until today,” he said.
On April 25, Putin said that he was unable to contact Rashnikov to congratulate him on the club’s victory in the Gagarin Cup. “Yesterday I wanted to call you, but you were so busy, there was no way to contact you; we were celebrating the team’s victory,” he told the entrepreneur.
On April 24, Metallurg turned out to be stronger than Lokomotiv Yaroslavl with a score of 2:1. Magnitogorsk won the final series of up to four wins. The Magnitogorsk club won the Gagarin Cup for the third time in history.
