Barcelona announces punishment for fans detained for racism in Paris in the Champions League

This Friday, Barcelona announced the punishments against the three club fans who were detained by the French police for racist acts and Nazi gestures, in Paris, during the match against PSG, in the Champions League.

Two fans had their fan membership cards revoked and the third is prevented from buying tickets for Barcelona games at home and away.

“The Barcelona Disciplinary Commission considers the events reported by the French police as ‘very serious’ and for this reason this suspension will be immediate and will last until the internal investigation is completed, which could last up to three months from the opening of the case. It must be noted that, as a result of these circumstances, Barcelona is facing a fine from UEFA worth 25,000 euros (around R$150,000) and a ban on the presence of Spanish fans at away matches in the main European football competition. This sanction has been suspended for one year,” the Catalan club wrote in an official statement.

The three accused were called by Barcelona to present their defense.

The case happened on April 10, during the first leg between PSG and Barcelona, ​​in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. On that occasion, the Spanish team won 3-2, but were defeated 4-1 in the return game and ended up eliminated from the competition.
