Efimova: if I swim according to the standard, I’ll think about going to the Olympics
Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova assessed the likelihood of participating in the 2024 Olympic Games. Her words are quoted by Match TV.
“Each person has his own choice. It’s not closed for me, because I haven’t swam according to the Olympic standard yet,” she said. The athlete noted that if she fulfills the standard, she will think about going to the Games.
Efimova is a six-time world champion. She also won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and two silver medals at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.
On September 4, 2023, the World Aquatics bureau allowed Russian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. Athletes will only be able to take part in events where the time or result is determined by the performance of one swimmer. A maximum of one athlete from Russia per discipline will be allowed to compete.
