With goals at the end, Chelsea beat Brentford and advance to the semi-final of the English League Cup

This Wednesday, the Chelsea won Brentford, away from home, by 2-0. The match, valid for the quarter-finals of the English League Cup, was played at Brentford Community Stadium and had goals from Pontus Jansson (own) and Jorginho at the end. With the triumph, the Blues guaranteed a spot in the semifinals of the competition.

Chelsea return to the field on Sunday, at 2:30 pm (GMT), when they visit Aston Villa for the 19th round of the Premier League. Brentford, in turn, will face Brighton, away from home, at 17:00.

The game – Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea dominated possession in the first half and submitted with some frequency, but did not take too much danger. Brentford, under the command of Thomas Frank, bet on a more direct game. In this way, he showed enough intensity, created good chances and threatened the goal of Kepa Arrizabalaga, who made important saves.

The complementary stage had Chelsea superiority, which pressured the opponent and managed to secure the victory. The first goal came at 35: Reece James crossed from the right and Jansson tried to deflect the ball. However, the Swede kicked towards his own goal and scored against. Four minutes later, Jorginho converted a penalty and gave the final numbers to the match.

Liverpool and Tottenham also advance

Also this Wednesday, the Liverpool advanced in the English League Cup. Playing at Anfield, the team tied with the Leicester City, by 3 to 3, and won on penalties by 5 to 4.

Jamie Vardy made it to the visitors on nine and extended the lead four minutes later. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain dropped to the home team at 19, but James Maddison made it 3-1 at 33 of the opening stage. Diogo Jota scored the second of the Reds at 23 of the second half, and Takumi Minamino scored the decisive goal already in stoppage time.

On penalties, Milner, Firmino, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Keita and Jota converted their charges – only Minamino missed. On Leicester’s side, Tielemans, Maddison, Albrighton and Iheanacho scored – Thomas and Bertrand missed.

THE Tottenham, in turn, won the West Ham United, at home, 2-1. Steven Bergwijn opened the scoring in the 29th of the first half for the Spurs, but Jarrod Bowen equalized the duel three minutes later. Lucas Moura scored the decisive goal at 34.
