The concert ‘A Christmas present’ will be this Thursday, December 23 at the Centro Cívico Eloy Alfaro theater.
Since she met him at a meeting of mutual friends, about two years ago, it has been the wish of the master Dante Anzolini, artistic director of the Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra, run a concert together with the clown Tiko Tiko, the unforgettable character of the actor and musician Ernesto Huertas. Wish will come true this Thursday, December 23 in the concert A Christmas present, in the theater Eloy Alfaro Civic Center.
“When I arrived in Ecuador four years ago, I did not know the significance of this character,” recalls Anzolini, of Italian-Argentine origin, who was struck by the charisma that this character has maintained for decades in the popular culture of Ecuador.
“It has an amazing continuity. He uses his histrionic character to teach about music; he is very well trained, more than people imagine. It is evident that he is a magnet, that everything he does can please so many generations. It is a mystery and it is fabulous ”, highlights the director of the GSO.
The repertoire is aimed at families, especially children, for whom Christmas awakens many illusions. The melody catalog includes the traditional ones El burrito sabanero, Bell over bell, Jingle Bells, in the company of the GSO choir. The program has a common thread, clarifies the teacher, which is to highlight the importance of goodness on these dates, especially, and to evoke that good triumphs over evil.
For this reason, other themes are added to the repertoire, such as the song of The Pink Panther (from Henry Mancini) and the opening from Star Wars. “For the international recognition of the hall for the culture of Ecuador, we put them on the scene The Scarecrow (by maestro Gerardo Guevara), a musically beautiful corridor that is not so touched ”, he adds.
In the Christmas line it also stands out Carol of the Bells, a Ukrainian Christmas carol made popular by the movie My poor angel. “There are (orchestral) themes that the cinema has popularized … It is a myth that the orchestra is conducted for an elite audience; If everyone goes to the cinema and listens to orchestral music, it means that it can be popular ”, says Anzolini, reminding us that it was always his intention, since he assumed the leadership of the OSG, to bring the orchestra closer to the general public, approaching to the most varied tastes.
