Cariocas were criticized for going after a hired coach. However, Marcos Braz countered and emphasized that he did not do anything without authorization.
“I never went to anyone’s house without being invited. If there’s a problem, it’s not mine. I was not the cause of this”, he told the newspaper Record.
Braz also recalled that Benfica’s board went to Rio de Janeiro to hire Jorge Jesus even with the coach having just renewed his contract with Flamengo.

“If there’s any problem with Benfica fans or Jorge Jesus, I don’t want to boost it. I don’t want to make trouble for anyone. We have nothing to do with any issue that exists between them. The problem, if it exists, I repeat, is not ours. It’s not Flamengo’s”, he said.
“A year and a half ago, the president of Benfica went to Rio de Janeiro on a jet and returned with Jorge Jesus. This happened and I never complained. As they say in Brazil, I never gave a peep. I’ve never said anything about it at all,” he added.
Flamengo directors will continue with the agenda of meeting with other technicians. Braz and Bruno Spindel are going to Braga to talk to Carlos Carvalhal this week.
